Lakhvir Randhawa wanted to do a fundraiser for the Easter Seals for as long as he could remember.
“Then one day in the summer, it hit me,” said the REALTOR® with CENTURY 21 Green Realty in Mississauga.
Using the connections he had, he setup a a charity golf tournament at Glen Eagle Golf Club in Caledon. More than 100 golfers registered and managed to raise $21,000 for Easter Seals.
“I had always wanted to hold an event like this for Easter Seals,” he said. “Within two months I had pulled together what turned into an incredible event.”
Corporate sponsors helped make the event more exciting by providing prizes and sponsoring holes during the game. While many of the participants had heard of Easter Seals, organizers said they could see participants fully grasping the benefits of the organization as the day went on.
“I’m not sure people who showed up to golf that day realized that they’d be changing a child’s life,” said Charlene Myke, Development Manager at Easter Seals Ontario. “Because of the money raised, the tournament participants made a difference in a child’s life. It provides a child with needed mobility equipment or the chance to attend an Easter Seals camp. Even beyond that, it gives a child a chance to dream of a future.”
“One thing that has motivated me to turn this into an annual event was the reaction of participants,” Randhawa said. “The CENTURY 21 Green Realty team was enthusiastic and engaged and it just shows how much our team wants to support a great cause like Easter Seals.”
