Contributing to the community can be rewarding in many ways—just ask REALTORS® Rayissa Palmer and Sandy Bodnar. This mother-daughter real estate team have enriched their local Toronto-area community by participating in projects such as the Mimico food bank drive, the Ron White Shoe Drive, the Mimico Party in the Park, and sponsoring a massive bounce castle for students at St. Leo Catholic Elementary School’s Spring Fling.Sandy Bodnar

“We have delightfully watched St. Leo’s Spring Fling grow by leaps and bounds each year we’ve been a part of it, sponsoring the biggest bounce castle for a fourth year in a row,” Palmer said. “But we wanted to do more than just pay for the bounce castle—we help supervise the children in the castle and we are there to personally thank our clients and the community. It is a wonderful time for us, plus we get to see how much the children have grown from year to year.”

Proceeds of the Spring Fling help fund supplemental education and social activities for the students of St. Leo’s.

The Mimico Party in the Park was a neighbourhood party with the charitable goal of raising $5,000 to support numerous community efforts. Local businesses were encouraged to sponsor a table and provide giveaways and information to visitors. More than 2,500 people attended the party in June.

“While we couldn’t give away houses for free, we did give out a newsletter created for the event. It outlined our impressions of the real estate market along with local sales data for the previous two months,” Palmer said. ”
