That’s one heel of a walk.
More than 90 men donned red high heels and walked a full mile along a downtown Fredericton route to raise funds and awareness for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and Fredericton’s Women In Transition House.
Royal LePage Gardiner Realty in Fredericton, New Brunswick, hosted the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in September.
“This year’s walk was a resounding success with a great time had by all,” said organizer and Royal LePage Gardiner Realty broker-owner Lincoln Thompson. “We are very proud of the $21,550 raised in support of women and children escaping violence and rebuilding their lives.”
Special guests included MP Matt DeCourcey, Deputy Premier and Minister Stephen Horsman, Oromocto mayor Bob Powell, many Fredericton councillors, and members of the fire and police departments wearing full gear.
This video from 2015 features Dianne Power of Fredericton’s Women in Transition House explaining what the emergency shelter does.
