A simple night of pizza, a few giveaways, and a Plinko game at a local bar ended up raising more than $8,500 for charity – all on Fredericton’s REALTORS Care® Day.
A special flag-raising ceremony at Fredericton’s city hall kicked off the day on Nov. 3 and REALTORS Care® Day ran well into the night as REALTORS® and other community members casually came together over some drinks and comfort food to help the Oromocto SPCA and the Fredericton food bank.

Sharon Watts, the Real Estate Board of the Fredericton Area’s executive director, said members were asked to donate in increments of $20, $100 or $200 for a chance to win one of three main prizes – a bar fridge, an overnight stay at a local hotel and a cash prize of $1,000 – donated by local businesses.
“It’s an opportunity for our sponsors and members to come together and enjoy a nice evening out,” Watts said.
She said charities are chosen at random each year in order to help spread the wealth around the communities the board serves.
She said there is “no better feeling in the world” when you are able to donate to those who need it.
And for those REALTORS® who are humming and hawing on whether or not to do some good in their community, Watts urged them to come down off that fence.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to say thank you to your community,” she said.
