For REALTORS®, it’s not always about simply selling houses. It’s about helping build them, too.

Members of the REALTORS® Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound (RAGBOS) participated in REALTOR® Day at the Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce Build in Sauble Beach, Ontario on two separate occasions in July.

Habitat for Humanity is a community-based, non-profit organization working to help deserving families achieve home ownership.

Volunteers throughout the community donate time or money — sometimes both, as in the case of these outgoing REALTORS® — to build single-family homes from the ground up. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and are financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund, which is used to build more homes.

RAGBOS members donated $23,115 to Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce earlier this summer. Those funds were raised at the annual charity golf tournament. Local REALTORS®, in co-operation with the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation, have donated more than $198,000 to Habitat builds since 2000.
