Don’t mess with the Agents of Bamber.
The team of 10 women from Century 21 Bamber Realty in Calgary recently took part in the Woman2Warrior obstacle adventure race where they climbed walls, balanced on beams, crawled through cold water, and did a lot of running in an effort to raise money for the Easter Seals.
They ended up raising just under $12,000, making them the top team in fundraising at the Calgary event for the second year in a row.
“I think (Easter Seals) is a great cause as it gives back to the kids and gives them the chance to live a normal life by going to camp and doing things every kid enjoys to do,” said REALTOR® Allison Bannard.
The Woman2Warrior Calgary race is a non-timed run covering about 4.5km of trails and terrain. The course features obstacles to test strength, agility, balance and sense of adventure, their website states.
More than $100,000 was raised this year by all teams. That money will go toward helping children with disabilities and medical conditions by supporting Easter Seals Alberta and the Children’s Hospital Aid Society.
While Bannard wasn’t able to take part in the race this year – “I’m pregnant, so I’m not going to be going over a wall,” she said – she was able to help raise money for the team by reaching out to family, friends and clients.
The Agents of Bamber even got into a friendly competition with a team named the Golden Girls.
“The last day, their team and our team were competing to be the top fundraising team. We wanted to be No. 1,” she admitted. “I think we raised about two or three thousand dollars in those last couple hours.”
