A couple of Cornwall, Ont., women who care have their eyes set on recruiting at least 100 more women for a large fundraising project.
Donna Chisholm-Forget and Tracey Veinotte, both REALTORS® with Royal Lepage Performance Realty, launched a new initiative for their city that will raise money for a deserving charity.
Both women were inspired by the 100+ Women Who Care concept — a movement that sees a group of women get together and commit $100 for a charity — and are bringing it to their Ontario community. During a wine and cheese event tentatively scheduled for the summer, Cornwall-area charities who have submitted an application for the donation will gather together and showcase how the $10,000 would make an impact on the community.
“The event provides a great opportunity for organizations/groups to make the community aware of their presence and purpose and to garner future support,”Chisholm-Forget said.
The top three deserving charities, as voted by the women, will then deliver a speech as to why their organization should receive the donation and the winner walks away that night with at least $10,000.
“We look forward to the challenge of co-ordinating this event,” Veinotte said. ” The opportunity to have a positive impact on the community is something we take great pride in and is a value shared by Royal Lepage Performance as a whole. It’s going to be a great evening for all!”
Chisholm-Forget said two weeks into creating the initiative, more than 25 women have signed up already. The Make a Wish Foundation has submitted an application with a few other charities expected to submit their applications soon.
