CENTURY 21® members came from across British Columbia to answer the call for local Easter Seals children living with disabilities. They collected telephone donations live on Shaw TV at the annual Timmy’s Telethon on December 6, 2015.
Local CENTURY 21 volunteers presented a cheque to Easter Seals for $57,765 on behalf of all BC members’ fundraising efforts in 2015.
CENTURY 21 Canada™ was an official co-hourly sponsor, manning the phones and taking donations for a full hour segment. Dedicated participants included:
- Kim Heizman, manager of CENTURY 21 Executives Realty Ltd. (Vernon, BC)
- Cortney Lessard, REALTOR® with CENTURY 21 In Town Realty (Vancouver, BC)
- Chiyoko Kakino, vice president of marketing at CENTURY 21 Canada™ (Vancouver, BC)
- Megan Craig, awards and recognition program coordinator at CENTURY 21 Canada™
Kakino also represented the Easter Seals Woman2Warrior challenge and helped present the event’s grand total cheque for $125,000. Her team, C21® Strong, contributed nearly $7,000 at the 5km obstacle race in May 2015.
“It’s an amazing feeling to experience everyone’s hard work and fundraising efforts throughout the year coming together all in one night,” said Kakino, vice president, marketing, CENTURY 21 Canada. “You can really feel the difference you are making in these families’ lives.”
The 28th annual Timmy’s Christmas Telethon featured six hours of televised entertainment, special guests, and the inspiring stories of local families living with disabilities. This year’s telethon raised $5,121,837 dollars for Easter Seals BC/Yukon.
Since 1979, CENTURY 21 offices in North America have proudly supported Easter Seals, becoming their largest all-time corporate contributor.
In 2009, CENTURY 21 Canada introduced the Kids to Camp program, sending children to one of 16 fully accessible summer camps run by Easter Seals across the country. Through events like The Drop Zone, Woman2Warrior, 24 hour relays, and locally organized fundraising functions, members have raised nearly $3 million and provided over 1000 children with the joy and independence of summer camp experiences.
