The staff and REALTORS® of Royal LePage True North Realty joined with representatives of the Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society on Thursday, June 25, 2015 to present $17,000 in funds, which were raised at the 14th annual Slo-Pitch Tournament for Unity House.
The tournament brought in hundreds of local athletes during Father’s Day weekend at the Syncrude Athletic Park. Residents came out to watch and support the over 21 teams competing in four divisions. Division A – Slo-Voltage, Division B – Drakes Thunder, Division C – Roc Dawgs and Division D – Dirty Pirates took home the winning titles.
“The ball community gives their full support to our tournament each year and they believe in the cause,” said Jill Kerrigan, Event Organizer and Associate Broker of Royal LePage True North Realty.
Throughout the year, Royal LePage True North Realty hosts several community initiatives to help raise awareness and funding for the Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society (Now tagged as Waypoints).
Waypoints Director of Fund Development Tim O’Rourke shared, “It was another fun charity slo-pitch tournament organized by the gang at Royal LePage True North Realty. Jill runs a good ship with all of the teams and participants.”
Waypoints recently celebrated the grand opening of Compass, a 78-unit affordable housing complex in Timberlea. This housing complex is the first phase of Waypoints’ two-phase capital project.
The $17,000 raised at the Royal LePage True North Realty’s weekend ball tournament will go towards the next phase – the new Unity House. This new building will offer a women and children’s shelter, a Sexual Assault and Abuse Healing Centre, as well as, offices for administration.
