Saskatchewan REALTORS®, Lou Doderai and Kevin Wouters recently showed their support at the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event. The event, an international men’s march to stop rape, sexual assault and gender violence, was put on by the North East Outreach & Support Services located in Melfort.
Like many of the “walkers,” both Lou and Kevin expressed new-found respect for women who wear these things every day. “I know they make my legs look really long and shapely,” said Kevin, “but flats are just more practical.” Lou agreed saying, “The shoes really compliment any outfit, but I think I’m going to have to stick with what’s in my closet right now.”
On a serious note, both men agreed that gender violence is totally unacceptable but that the march was a great way to shine a light on a very dark subject that not many people are comfortable talking about.
They hope their leadership on the matter will encourage others to do the same and create more vibrant communities in which to live. “We love our community, and we know that through our contributions, we’re helping to make it an even better place to live.” Participants and contributors came from all over the province to support this cause which ultimately, will improve the Quality of Life for all women in Saskatchewan.
Each of these sartorially resplendent gentlemen is extremely active in the REALTOR® community: Lou (pictured above left) is a Past President of the Association of Saskatchewan REALTORS® and Kevin is the current Association Vice President.
Thank you to the North East Outreach & Support Services for putting on this terrific event that raised $18,000 for the cause. In April, NEOSS received a $5000 grant from the Association of Saskatchewan REALTORS®’ Quality of Life Legacy Fund, and events like this one confirm that choice.
Thanks again to Lou and Kevin for teetering around on 4” heels and being part of the solution to the problem of gender violence.
