George Patton, a member of the Kitchener‐Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) and a broker with Royal LePage Wolle Realty was honoured with the KWAR’s Volunteer Award on January 16, 2015 at the Association’s 22nd Annual Kick Off dinner and dance.
The KWAR Volunteer Award commemorates the vital contribution of volunteers within the Association and honours their significant efforts, without which, the Association would not exist. The award is given to an individual who has demonstrated commitment and dedication as an Association volunteer and who has also made significant impact on their community through various volunteering efforts.
“REALTORS® throughout Waterloo region have a strong tradition of volunteering and supporting a wide variety of initiatives within our local community,” said KWAR Executive Officer Bill Duce. “George Patton certainly exemplifies this through his history of leadership at KWAR as well as the Lions.”
A REALTOR® since 1985 and Broker since 1987, George served as a KWAR director from 2005‐2012, and in 2011 was president. Patton has served as committee member and chair of numerous KWAR committees including MLS® Services, Education, Bylaw, Finance, and Governance. He is currently representing the KWAR on a Governors Committee working to regionalize the MLS® System of eight different REALTOR® Associations.
As a dedicated member of the Lions Club since 1972, George gives back to both the local and worldwide community by promoting Lionism at all levels in the organization. As a Lion, he has served in just about every major role at the club, including Past President of the Kitchener Oktoberfest Lions Club, club treasurer, chair of the Oktoberfest Committee, newsletter editor & publisher, Cabinet Secretary for Lions District A15, District Youth Exchange, and current Chairperson of the District A15 Constitution and By‐laws Committee.
REALTORS® believe that healthy communities depend on a strong economy, safe neighbourhoods, a clean environment, access to housing and the protection of rights of property owners. The KWAR recognizes the need to support and enhance the Quality of Life enjoyed by residents of Waterloo region.
