Regina’s North Central Family Centre will be able to help more young people realize their potential, thanks to another strong show of support from Regina REALTORS® and friends on the golf course.
The Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc. (ARR) has donated $12,585.11 to the North Central Family Centre’s Youth Empowerment Program. That’s half of the record proceeds raised at this year’s ARR Annual Charity Golf Tournament plus an additional $5,000 from the Association itself, bringing the total Regina REALTORS® have contributed to the NCFC over the past nine years to almost $98,000.
This year’s donation will purchase tutoring, reading and homework help for the Centre’s Children and Youth Literacy Program, as well as supplies for the Clean The Neighbourhood Project, which puts youth to work assisting elders and housebound residents with yard care and other maintenance.
“By investing in our youth, Regina REALTORS® are investing in the future workers, homeowners, and leaders of our city,” says Sandy Wankel, the NCFC’s Co-founder and Executive Director. “We consider the ARR and its members to be so much more than supporters. We consider them to be part of our North Central family and we are deeply grateful for and humbled by their generosity over the years.”
Past support from the ARR has included construction of a popular outdoor courtyard at the Centre and supplying the paint for a colourful mural that young people created in memory of NCFC’s other founder, Ivan Amichand, who passed away last year.
Along with supporting the North Central Family Centre, the ARR has donated $7,585.11 — the other half of this year’s charity golf tournament proceeds — to help the Albert Park Community Association fund a new walking path and other enhancements at REALTORS® Park. Local REALTORS® helped to establish the south Regina park in 1987 as a legacy of the ARR’s 75th anniversary and have contributed to other improvements there over the years, including a splash pad.
