On January 17, 2014, Gaye Males, a member of the Kitchener‐Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) was presented with the KWAR Volunteer Award at the association’s annual Kick Off dinner.
The KWAR Volunteer Award commemorates the vital contribution of volunteers within the Association and honours their significant efforts, without which, the Association would not exist. The award is given to an
individual who has demonstrated commitment and dedication as an Association volunteer and who has also made significant impact on their community through various volunteering efforts.
“Volunteering is a big part of what many REALTORS® do in both their personal and professional lives,” said KWAR President Lynn Bebenek, “This award is an opportunity for us to recognize those special individuals who have made a positive difference to our association and our community, and Gaye more than fits that bill.”
Gaye started her real estate career in 1984 and is a Broker with Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty. She served as a director of the KWAR from 2005 to 2008.
A dedicated volunteer, Gaye has served on several KWAR committees including MLS® Services, By‐Law, Public Relations, Professional Standards, Program, Nomination, and various Task Forces. She has taken part in just about every kind of charitable activity the KWAR has participated in: Collecting food for the Food Bank, adopt‐a‐Road clean‐ups, Cure for Cancer walks , and Christmas Toy Drives to name a few. She also helped to organize and run the KWAR’s annual Children’s Christmas Party and Charity Golf Tournaments.
As a co‐presenter of the KWAR’s new member orientations, Gaye also gives back to her fellow REALTORS® by sharing her nearly 30 years of industry knowledge and experience.
REALTORS® believe that healthy communities depend on a strong economy, safe neighbourhoods, a clean environment, access to housing and the protection of rights of property owners. The KWAR recognizes the need to support and enhance the Quality of Life enjoyed by residents of Waterloo region.
Established in 1937, the Kitchener‐Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) operates the local Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) and provides ongoing professional education courses for nearly 1,200 REALTOR® members who serve the communities of Kitchener‐Waterloo and outlying areas.
