The Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) is pleased to announce that it has raised $20,707.92 for Lutherwood’s Safe Haven Shelter. The donation is the result of the Association’s 20th annual charity golf tournament held at Conestoga Golf Club on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.
Located at Lutherwood’s Betty Thompson Youth Centre (BTYC) the Safe Haven Shelter offers Waterloo Region youth a safe alternative to living on the streets. The program offers immediate admission and service for up to 10 youth on a 24-hours/7-day a week basis.
“With the generosity of community groups such the KWAR we can continue to provide and safe and supportive environment for youth,” said Donna Buchan, Executive Director of Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation. “We are extremely grateful to be this year’s recipient of funds raised via their golf tournament. The crisis beds at BTYC rely heavily on fundraised dollars and will benefit greatly from this KWAR donation.”
“Every dollar raised at our golf tournament supports a local charity,” says Dietmar Sommerfeld, President of KWAR. “Thanks to the generosity of our REALTOR® members, participants and our sponsors we were able to support a very worthwhile organization in our community.”
