The Real Estate Board of the Fredericton Area recently held their second annual Harvest of Hope Bowl-a-thon in support of the Fredericton Community Kitchen. The event raised over $16,800 through pledges from the bowlers, lane sponsors, and two key partners, Jack Youssef Law Office and Re/Max Group Four Realty. This amount was topped up to $17,000 by the Board.
Many REALTORS®, friends, and families took part in this fun-filled event. The Bowl-a-thon was emceed by REALTORS® Joe Trevors and Robert Fanjoy, who kept the bowlers entertained while roving photographer Rob Legere got some great action shots and photos of the animated participants.
In two years, the members of the Real Estate Board have donated a total of $40,000 to the Fredericton Community Kitchen who feed the needy in our city. The Kitchen serves over 110,000 meals a year to those less fortunate. The funds raised are for the month of March, as that is the month the Kitchen feels the pinch. In March, they tend to receive the lowest amount of donations while seeing the highest demand for meals. The Kitchen usually serves between 11,000 to 12,000 meals during that month.
A cheque for $17,000 was presented by Marianne Glover, Publicity Chair, to the Fredericton Community Kitchen representatives Jan Lockhart and Tim Sharpe. Along with the donation, a winter coat drive was held at the November General Membership meeting whereby dozens of coats, scarves, hats, and mitts were donated by the members. Also in photo are Mary Cudmore, Brad Thomas and Edie Whitman, Executive Officer.
