On Friday, October 19, The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board (OMDREB) hosted their 2012 President’s Charity Mardi Gras Ball at the Oakville Conference Centre. It was the Board’s own version of Mardi Gras and the “Vieux Carre,” or French Quarter, and it was all in the name of a worthy charity.
“This event is the cornerstone of our fund raising efforts for Home Suite Hope,” said Michele Gaboury, President of OMDREB. “I selected this unique shelter-based charity because of its grass roots approach to homelessness in our very own community. We, as a committee, believed that not only could Home Suite Hope greatly benefit from our support, but with our two small organizations working together, we could make a significant impact on the lives of our fellow community members by helping to reduce the number of homeless families in Halton.”
The event was emceed by Leafs TV personality Paul Hendrick and patrons purchased Mardi Gras-style masks and gift bags, and participated in a raffle. A live auction featured Z103.5 morning show host Scott Fox and included items such as a ticket package to UFC 154, wine and dinner experiences, a weekend getaway and much more.
