RE/MAX Professionals Saint John’s 4th annual fundraising auction generated its highest total yet, raising $26,000 for the local IWK children’s hospital.
This year’s event included dinner and both a live and silent auction. Over 30 RE/MAX volunteers spent months gathering the 160 items auctioned off. There was something for everyone, from travel vouchers to electronics, from artwork to a new baby barn. One lucky couple walked away with one of the evening’s most popular items: a pair of diamond earrings.
Since the event was first launched four years ago, it has raised over $65,000 for the local IWK Health Centre, a children’s hospital that has provided life-saving treatment to children in the Maritimes for over four decades. With the support of generous donors, they have been able to expand over the years to provide out-patient care, family support, education, and have been paving the way for ground-breaking research in pediatric health.
This year’s event attracted approximately 200 attendees. “Every year I am astounded by the support we receive,” says RE/MAX Manager Gordon Breau. “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses who donate to this event and the members of the community who come out to support it.”
RE/MAX offices across Canada support children’s hospitals through fundraising and donations. Nationally, the RE/MAX Miracle Home Network provides funding for the 17 million Canadian children treated at a pediatric hospital every year. RE/MAX Saint John is one of the top contributors among the Atlantic Canadian offices.
“Supporting the Children’s Miracle Network is one of the most effective ways to ensure all children have a chance at a bright and healthy future,” says Breau. “It is a cause that means a lot to us, and we are proud to support it.”
