The Paul Rushforth Team and Friends “Do It for Daron” and Raise Over $21K for Youth Mental Health

For the REALTORS® and staff of Paul Rushforth Real Estate, Inc. Brokerage, this summer was not just a time for fun in the sun – it was a time to make a real difference, helping a cause that means a lot to them and the local community in Ottawa.

“D.I.F.D. and youth mental health is an amazing cause, which is near and dear to my heart,” says Broker/Owner Paul Rushforth. “The number of youth suffering from this illness is staggering and I am honoured to be able to affect change in a positive way.”

With help from a number of generous sponsors from the community, celebrity guests, and friends, the Paul Rushforth Team raised over $21,000 for this great cause.

On July 3, 2012, the 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament was held at GreyHawk Golf Club in Ottawa. It was a star-studded day, with golfers sharing the green with Chris Kelly of the Boston Bruins, Zenon Konopka of the Ottawa Senators, Hall of Fame Defenseman Denis Potvin, Brent Wallace of TSN, and local Ottawa media personalities. Hockey trivia expert Liam Maguire was emcee for the evening and Team 1200 was also broadcasting on-site throughout the day.

Golfers were treated to a pair of Footjoy golf shoes, a golf cart, meals and refreshments throughout the day, a silent auction, and entry into a number of exciting contests.

D.I.F.D. is a youth drive program championed by the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Hospital. The campaign is focused on raising awareness and inspiring conversations about youth mental health. Created by friends and family of Daron Richardson, who lost her life to suicide at the young age of 14, D.I.F.D is inspired by hope for a future where young people will reach out for help without fear or shame. D.I.F.D. supports programs and initiatives aimed at transforming youth mental health.
