RE/MAX Professionals Saint John presented a cheque for an astounding $65,000 on June 5, 2011 to the IWK Foundation, an Atlantic Canada charity that funds equipment and care for the IWK Health Centre.
The funds were raised by RE/MAX franchises across New Brunswick through a variety of local office events and from the proceeds of RE/MAX’s “Miracle Home” program, in which a donation is set aside for charity each time a house sells with – or is sold by – the company.
“The IWK is at the very heart of specialized healthcare for children and families all across the Maritimes,” said RE/MAX Manager Gordon Breau, who presented the cheque. “We were extremely proud to be able to help the Foundation in such a significant way.”
The RE/MAX Saint John office was also proud to be able to man the phone lines at the IWK Telethon on June 5 when the cheque was presented. A total of 10 RE/MAX Professionals Saint John team members manned all of the phone lines for three hours, accepting donations from the public.
“So many of our team members volunteered for Telethon phone duty that I ended up having to turn people away,” said Gordon. This enthusiasm recently helped propel the RE/MAX Professionals Saint John office into winning a second-place award for its charitable fundraising efforts in Atlantic Canada.
