A demanding career in real estate is more than enough to keep the average person busy, but Judy Mitchell is no average person.
Judy, who is licensed with RE/MAX Professionals Saint John, has found that since her grown step- kids rely on her less and less, she can give to her community more and more.
Last June, for example, Judy Chaired the Rally of Hope, the signature fundraising event for the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation. Under her hand, the event raised $1.64 million dollars – surpassing its $1.5 million goal.
And, for three years, Judy has spent every Tuesday morning at a Saint John elementary school, cooking breakfast for 60 hungry kids as part of the PALS — “Partners Assisting Local Schools” program. “My dad has recently started joining me with the cooking, and that’s been fun,” she adds.
Judy also joined three of her RE/MAX colleagues – Joanne Breau, Andrea Hughes, and Priscilla McQuade – in phone duty for a televised marathon raising funds for the IWK Health Centre, a facility that provides highly specialized medical care to families throughout the Maritimes.
Judy says her contributions are driven by a genuine passion for her community.
“As a life-long resident of Saint John, it’s hard not to get involved,” she says. “It’s very rewarding to be in the position to pay it forward.”
