The Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc. has kicked off its second year partnering with the North-Central Family Centre (NCFC) to help youth in Regina’s inner city.
The Association provided an additional $2,500 for the NCFC’s Youth Empowerment Program in 2007, and is committed to continuing its support through 2008. The program employs 15-20 inner-city youth to provide services, such as lawn care, snow removal and other odd jobs, to North-Central area residents.
This year’s funding will be used to provide maintenance for equipment and to buy a trailer to transport equipment for the program.
“Hopefully this year’s assistance will help the program to provide even more service to the community and create more work experience opportunities for young people in north central Regina,” said Association President David Mayer.
“In 2006, we helped the NCFC get the Youth Empowerment Program off the ground,” Mayer said. “From all reports, it has proven to be a very successful program providing needed services to the north central community and its property owners, particularly many seniors. At the same time, it provides practical working experience and skill development for young people.”
The NCFC mission is to carry out works for the encouragement and empowerment of the inner city community by offering educational, sports and recreation, social, cultural and counseling programs to promote positive and healthy changes in the north-central Regina. The NCFC delivers in excess of 45 structured programs to Regina’s inner-city children, youth, families and seniors.
