Thanks to Canadian REALTORS®, Canadian troops in Afghanistan will have a warm reminder of home this holiday season. The Renfrew County Real Estate Board initiated a campaign to send a $5 Tim Horton’s gift certificate to each person serving in Afghanistan. Their goal of collecting $18,000 to do so was achieved in just four weeks.
“Base Petawawa is within our Board’s jurisdiction and we have witnessed the grief of the family members of those killed in action,” said Pat Cleator, President of the Renfrew County Real Estate Board. “We’re thrilled to be able to show the troops that we do appreciate their sacrifices,” she said. “And what could be more Canadian than a Tim Horton’s coffee and donut?”
“It was moving to read the personal notes that accompanied many individual donations,” said OREA President Tim Lee. “This campaign touched the hearts of Canadian REALTORS® and that’s why so many responded.”
A banner with the names of each donor will be hung in the Tim Horton’s store on the Canadian base.
