The REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) is ecstatic to announce that their 10th annual charity golf tournament raised over $16,600 for the Home Ownership Affordability Partnership (HOAP) and the Karan Barker Memorial Scholarship Fund, thanks to overwhelming community support.
“The response from the REALTORS® and the community this year was overwhelming,” said Mark Wasilewski, Chairman, RAHB Golf Tournament Ad Hoc Committee. “You can never underestimate the generosity of the people in the Hamilton-Burlington and surrounding areas when it comes to supporting their community.”
The tournament attracted more than 150 REALTORS®, guests, and sponsors to a friendly tee-off on the Copetown Woods Golf Course.
“Our tournament sells out every year,” said Wasilewski. “We had great weather, wonderful networking opportunities, and a whole lot of fun.”
HOAP is a partnership of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington, the City of Hamilton, Scotiabank and the Threshold School of Building. The benefits of HOAP include neighbourhood revitalization and investment, promotion of affordable home ownership for existing tenant households, freeing up existing social housing units for other needy households, and training youth to have marketable job skills in the construction and renovation industry.
The REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington launched the Karan Barker Memorial Scholarship/Bursary Fund in 2001. It provides bursaries to the children and grandchildren of RAHB members and staff who demonstrate academic excellence and outstanding involvement in school and the community. The scholarship was established to recognize the association’s former Executive Officer and is a living legacy of her dedication and professionalism.
