Today’s young people are our future leaders. Quality programs that support the healthy physical, educational and social development of children and youth also help them to achieve their full potential as adults, as citizens and as leaders. But the funding to keep these important community programs running is limited and can be hard to come by.
When the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops announced it was facing a funding gap in early 2005, Eric Putoto – owner of Eric Putoto & Co. Platinum Realty Inc. – sprung into action. He decided to donate $50 from every sale made by Platinum Realty in 2005 to the Club. On December 8th, he delivered a cheque for $12,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops. The money will be used to help fund three key programs used by more than 150 young people in the Kamloops area.
“I’ve been very fortunate as a member of this community and I wanted to give something back. When I saw the work that the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops does for our local teens, a light bulb turned on,” said Putoto. “I feel proud to be able support programs that offer a positive alternative for the teenagers in our community.”
