Unforgettable and priceless are words that describe a special holiday experience at Sutton Group – Canwest. The team came together to purchase gifts for a family of nine (that is seven children)! They delivered a mountain of Christmas presents worth approximately $2,500 and included necessities such as socks, hats, mitts and grocery store gift cards as well as toys. Giving to local families is a long tradition for Sutton Group – Canwest. REALTORS® and staff happily contribute funds and time to this annual project.
“This year, we made a super exciting Christmas hamper for a family of nine,” says Lora Mendoza, the Office Administrator. “There are seven small children and mom and dad who work hard for their family. Despite that, they wouldn’t have been able to afford a nice meal or gifts for all of the children.”
“For many seasons now, our group from Sutton Group – Canwest has come together to give one or more families a Christmas they will never forget.”
Instead of going through a charity, this office took a personal approach to finding a family in need. REALTOR® Shannon MacLeod reached out to a contact who works at a school in one of the city’s lower-income neighbourhoods. The contact is very familiar with the students and families who are struggling financially. Several members of the Canwest team also had the privilege of personally delivering the gifts.
“Seeing the children’s faces light up when we brought the presents to their home was priceless and the best part of this whole event,” recalls Lora. “Other highlights of this experience were seeing how generous the team can be and how willing they are to help people in need. The wrapping party is a fun get together too.”
“We are fortunate enough to be in a position to help and will continue to do this for many years to come!”
