Executives from real estate Boards and Associations across Canada gathered earlier this month in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, for the 2013 AEC Seminar.
The Association Executives Council (AEC) is comprised of individuals involved in real estate association management from across Canada. Its mission is “to provide leadership and management resources to its members.” It does just that with its annual Seminar, which this year featured a selection of best-in-class speakers, consultants, and facilitators to provide attendees with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to implement, manage, and measure their change results.
For years, the AEC has taken the opportunity at the Seminar to raise money for a local charity. This year, they selected Kelowna’s Gospel Mission’s 30K Club and committed to raising money in support of the charity’s goal of replacing the roof of their women’s shelter, Harmony House.
Throughout the Seminar, attendees raised money with a 50/50 draw, the inaugural “AEC Derby,” and a donation box. Thanks to a few last-minute donations, over $2,000 had been raised by the end of the event. Special recognition goes to Andrea Snow of the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton, winner of the 50/50 draw, who generously donated half of her winnings.
The 30K Club is a monthly donor program that supports services offered to Kelowna’s Gospel Mission clients who are taking steps to transition from dependence to independence. Each month, this support helps these clients find a home and connect with programs that ensure their long-term success.
