This year’s Chance for Kids charity golf tournament, held May 15 in Pemberton, raised $40,355 for young athletes aspiring to compete internationally. REALTOR® Lonne Clark, a founding Director of Chance for Kids, organized the tournament.
“It was better than expected,” said Clark. “We had set a target of $40,000, but we had never broken the $30,000 mark before.”
One-hundred-and-seven golfers participated in the event and significant donations came from Scotia Bank and the Pemberton Valley Supermarket, the two platinum sponsors. Twenty-five hole sponsors each made $300 donations. Clark looked after the administration, finances and communications for the event.
Clark, of Sutton Group – West Coast Realty, began her volunteer efforts with the Make a Wish Foundation, but soon began raising money for organizations focusing on young athletes in British Colombia. Chance for Kids helps support talented young athletes while they work to achieve their performance objectives, and with the 2010 Winter Olympics coming to B.C., Clark’s efforts are sure to be appreciated.
