CREA President Laura Leyser sure knows how to finish off an event on a high note! As CREA’s 2013 SGM came to a close in Vancouver on October 29, Laura challenged CREA CEO Gary Simonsen to shave his iconic beard in support of Movember Canada, an organization that combats prostate and testicular cancer as well as men’s mental health challenges. Laura went on to challenge the crowd of REALTORS® and Board/Association staff to throw their support behind Gary by pledging to donate to the cause.
The result? Gary rose to the challenge and took centre stage. With the help of Sammy “The Barber,” Gary adopted a clean-shaven look for only the second time in his adult life. The SGM attendees blew everyone away with their generosity, pledging over $9,000 in total.
The Canadian REALTORS Care® Foundation is now collecting their donations and will send a big cheque to Movember Canada on behalf of organized real estate once all of the funds have been received.
