Recognized for giving back to her community, Charlotte Hutchinson of RE/MAX at Mara Lake in Sicamous is the recipient of the REALTORS Care® Award for the Shuswap Zone of the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB).
Many REALTORS® continue to give of their time, money and expertise, and this is the sixth year the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board’s (OMREB) Shuswap Zone has recognized the exemplary efforts of its members by awarding annual REALTORS Care® Awards. The presentation to Charlotte was made at the Zone Annual General Meeting on November 29, 2012, and Board-wide recognition will occur at OMREB’s Annual General Meeting in March, 2013.
“Charlotte Hutchinson is a very worthy recipient of this award,” notes OMREB President and working REALTOR® Rob Shaw. “Her diligent and ongoing support for several causes in the Sicamous area exemplifies those REALTORS® who have made long-term contributions to the communities in which they live, and to promote public awareness that REALTORS® are committed to helping the communities in which they earn a living and care deeply enough to be actively involved.”
Charlotte is recognized for tirelessly donating her time and energy to many worthwhile causes. An outstanding citizen who always puts the good of her community first, she is actively involved in a number of organizations including serving as a Town Councillor for the District of Sicamous, Board member and Chair for Community Futures Shuswap, past Chair of the Sicamous and District Chamber of Commerce, and a Director for Eagle Valley Seniors Housing.
She has spent 10 years on the Board of the Shuswap Emergency Program, and a decade with the Board of Directors for the local curling club board. Always willing to assist those in need, Charlotte also finds time to volunteer with the local food bank.
Tied for second place were two worthy Revelstoke REALTORS® who have made significant contributions to their community – Raymond Cretelli of RE/MAX Revelstoke Realty and Brendan Ginter of Royal LePage Revelstoke. An active fundraiser, Ray’s ongoing efforts have been instrumental in achieving the goals of many local projects for various charities. Brendan is an active volunteer with the local food bank, and devotes much of his time to search and rescue initiatives.
Recognized for his longtime volunteer efforts, Award nominee Jeff Stacer of RE/MAX Shuswap has played an integral part in the success of many local fundraisers, and continues to support and sponsor numerous non-profit organizations in the Salmon Arm area. Tara Gallant of Royal LePage Access Real Estate in Salmon Arm was also nominated for generously giving back to her community – always finding the time to devote to seniors in need, and donating to the women’s shelter and food bank.
“REALTORS® are good public citizens,” notes Janice Myers, Executive Director of the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board. “They care about the communities that they live and work in, and the world around them. I am always amazed at all the ways REALTORS® give back, the leadership they take and the good example they set for others.”
While 2012 may have seen a slow but steady pace of sales in the Shuswap-Revelstoke market, the community spirit of local REALTORS® has been undeterred. As the Okanagan-Shuswap moves towards further economic recovery and market stability during 2013, local REALTORS® look forward to continued involvement in their communities.
The Shuswap Zone of OMREB includes the areas of Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Sorrento, North Shuswap and east along Highway 1 to Revelstoke. The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB) is comprised of 1,045 member REALTORS® and 95 real estate offices in the Southern Interior of BC.
