At the Central Okanagan Hospice Association’s 5th Annual Swinging with the Stars on March 2, 2013, local celebrities and professional dance instructors took to the dance floor to put their moves to the test in front of a sold-out crowd, all in support of bereavement and palliative care in their community of Kelowna, B.C. One of the celebrities joining in on the fun was Jane Hoffman, REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Jane Hoffman Group.
Jane not only won the Judges’ Choice trophy for her merengue with partner Chris Thorburn of Kelowna Ballroom, but she and her campaign team (fellow REALTORS® Carole Coleman and Lora Proskiw) were also recognized with the Pledging Trophy, for raising the most pledges – over $64,840 for the Hospice Association. The event overall raised over $226,000 in revenue.
“I have been deeply and profoundly touched by every aspect of the Swinging With The Stars Event,” shares Jane. “I am honoured to be involved with such talented people all giving so generously of the time and energy to bring everything together in such perfect harmony. Hospice is an amazing organization and this event plays such an effective role in bringing such as important service to our community. I was inspired by the words printed on the trophy: ‘To touch, to move, to inspire this is the true gift of dance.’ That explains it all.”
The Central Okanagan Hospice Association is committed to community outreach and to meeting the needs of the terminally ill and their families by providing compassionate care and supportive assistance through resources, trained volunteers, and professional counseling.
