Lack of nutrition can affect a student’s physical, social and intellectual development. That’s why Sutton–Premier Realty recently donated $350 in grocery store gift cards to Harold Bishop Elementary School…then stayed for some fun on the basketball court.

“Our office is just down the street from the elementary school and a few years ago we sponsored a soccer tournament for 60 Grade 5 and 6 students,” said Broker Larry Anderson. “This year, we wanted to do more, so we contacted the principal and he told me what they needed. We decided to dedicate a portion of our fundraising efforts to directly help students.”

Representatives from Sutton–Premier Realty were invited to join in a special basketball tournament on their visit. Anderson and Sutton REALTORS® Jeremy Delos Santos and Razaik Cheema teamed up with teachers and RCMP officers for a friendly competition with students. It was fast-paced with a new game every three minutes, switching in five students each time to give more than 60 students a chance to play.

“There is a moment when you realize you’re not as young as you use to be,” Larry mused on Facebook following the games. “We played against 12 teams, three minute games with only two subs. Those kids don’t get tired… Can you say, ‘Advil.’”

Manny Sraw, Office Administrator, said the office has an invitation to return for a badminton tournament in April.
