This season, over 35 charities received a little extra holiday warmth thanks to the generosity of REALTORS®, volunteers and residents of Lower Mainland British Columbia. The 13th Annual REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive set an all-time record with 4,155 bags of blankets and warm clothing being collected.
“This year’s effort was truly incredible,” said Laurie Dawson, Fraser Valley Real Estate Board Communications Coordinators. “REALTORS®, our volunteers and members of the public faced two snowstorms, one the first day of the Drive and then a huge one on the Drive’s only weekend and then on the final day of the Drive, the entire Lower Mainland was hit with a massive ‘pineapple express’ downpour!”
The Real Estate Boards of Greater Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Chilliwack all stepped up to the challenge and worked to get the word out that more was needed.and look what happened – a 23 per cent increase over last year’s total.
The Blanket Drive could not have been as successful had it not been for the hard work of all involved and over 30 charities ranging from Sea to Sky Community Services in Squamish to the Mission Christmas Bureau are all very appreciative.
