More than 600 REALTORS® and guests gathered at the Pan Pacific Hotel on December 6, 2012 for the annual Sutton Group – West Coast Realty holiday party. This sold-out event was held in the hotel’s festively-decorated atrium overlooking the iconic sails of Canada Place and the lights of the North Shore mountains. During the evening, guests showed their support for the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund by purchasing thousands of dollars in 50/50 tickets. Organizers at Sutton Group – West Coast Realty are pleased to report that this was another successful fundraiser for the Burn Fund.
“Our 19 West Coast offices worked in synergy and sold $11,760 worth of tickets before and during the event,” says Curtis Cottrell, VP Marketing for Sutton Group – West Coast Realty. “When Santa drew the lucky ticket, it was Mike Hofer, manager for our Killarney office, who was the very surprised and elated 50/50 winner of $5,880 cash. In turn, Mike generously donated $1,000 back, for a grand total of $6,880 raised that evening.”
“At each major event we look for ways to support the efforts of the Burn Fund and the work they do to keep homes, families and clients around BC safe throughout the year. In fact, this was our largest 50/50 draw to date. Our General Manager, Merrily Hackett, presented the cheque to Randy Motkaluk, a Vancouver representative of the Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund’s board.”
Sutton Group – West Coast Realty REALTORS® have been very supportive of the Burn Fund through their Sutton Cares Program. Approximately $40,000 has been raised through corporate events, open houses and barbeques since the program inception in 2010. This Sutton brokerage is also the official relocation partner to the BC Professional Fire Fighters. Firefighters and their friends and family who utilize Sutton Group – West Coast Realty for buying or selling their home will trigger donation for the Burn Fund.
Educating children and adults about prevention and assisting burn victims have been the goals of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund since its inception in 1978. The Burn Fund is also planning a centre for burn survivors and treatment research.
