It’s never easy when a family member is sick, but it’s even more difficult when they require treatment away from home during the holidays. During the 2019 holiday season, the team from Sutton – Premier Realty helped bring a welcoming, festive feeling to Ronald McDonald House (RMH) at the Surrey Memorial Hospital.
On Friday, November 27, 2019, REALTORS® delivered $700 worth of gifts, food, toiletries and baby clothes. Closer to Christmas, RMH staff distributed their donations, which included toys for children and Bluetooth wireless speakers for teenagers.
Sutton – Premier Realty supports charitable projects such as this one by holding multiple fundraisers during the year and through personal donations from team members.
“As a firm believer in giving back, I was very blessed to be able to donate toys to the Ronald McDonald House with my fellow co-workers and staff at Sutton – Premier Realty. You never know how much a small item can have a huge impact,” says REALTOR® Jaz Virdi, who helped to deliver the food and gifts on Friday.
Sarah Luong, a representative from RMH BC’s development team overseeing corporate partnerships, sees the positive impact of these contributions. “The Sutton – Premier Realty team give families at the Ronald McDonald Family Room more opportunities to be together when their child is seriously ill. Thanks to their support of the family meal program, families have the chance to connect with their loved ones without the worries of planning a meal. Their generous donations also help to give families a place to stay where they can find rest, comfort and hope during the most challenging times of their lives.”
Every few months, volunteers from this office prepare meals for families who are frequently stressed and exhausted by their travels and medical crises. In October 2019, Office Administrator Manny Sraw and her family cooked a delicious Greek meal for RMH guests.
