Volunteer Manitoba held its 32nd annual awards gala at RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg in March and MREA President Roberta Weiss honoured two special volunteers with the MREA Quality of Life Award.
This year’s winners were Léo Grouette and Lévi Malo, two retired gentlemen who serve at L’Entre-temps des Franco-Manitobaines, a shelter for women and children needing a safe haven from family violence to transition to independent living.
Each year the MREA Quality of Life award recognizes volunteers deeply committed to improving the lives of Manitoba children. The recognition includes a $2,500 cash award to the charity of the winners’ choice; this year L’Entre-temps.
The event was attended by hundreds of Manitoba volunteers, representatives of not-for-profit and corporate agencies, political and community leaders.
