Close to 20 REALTORS® and WinnipegREALTORS® staff arrived at 8 a.m. to paint their assigned house as part of Brush Up Winnipeg. Thanks to the skills of volunteer contractors, Floyd and Louise Broesky, the participants were able to have it fully painted and ready to go in the early afternoon. The elderly homeowner shed many tears of joy when she saw her home transformed into a vibrant red jewel amid a neighbourhood of neutral tones.
The Brush Up Winnipeg program is an excellent team-building activity for companies seeking to make a difference within their communities and inspire civic pride. In 2006, Convergys developed a team-building activity called Brush Up Winnipeg, where employees painted the exterior of one home in need in just one day. The following year, Convergys and Take Pride Winnipeg partnered up to expand the program and seven homes across the city of Winnipeg were painted, and the program has continued since then. In 2013, an additional nine homes were painted. Each year, the homes are selected based on both physical and financial criteria.
