REALTORS® Geoff and Regan Archambault lived in the community of Harbour View South in Winnipeg for 14 years before moving to East St. Paul. They decided to give back to their former community through a contribution of $120,000 of their own money towards two parks in the area. “We always feel a need to give back to the community,” Geoff said. “A park is a great place for families to meet and have fun.”
Improvements will be made to Harbour View South Park at the corner of Rutledge Crescent and McLellan Drive, including a picnic shelter, a play structure, new benches, 35 trees, and improved drainage. The City of Winnipeg will also contribute $25,000 and the province of Manitoba will provide $30,000. In June 2011, the park was renamed Archambault Park to recognize the couple’s contribution to the project. Work on the project is expected to start in the fall of 2011.
The Archambaults also plan to donate $30,000 to upgrade Sunrise Park located nearby on Shauna Way. The City of Winnipeg will contribute $20,000 and the Rotary Club of Winnipeg East AM, of which Geoff is President, will contribute $10,000. “You can’t wait for someone else to do it,” Regan said. “When you see the need and have the means, you should do it.”
