On December 24, the Fredericton Real Estate Board, answering a plea to the community for support, presented the Fredericton Community Kitchen with a cheque for $3,370. The funds were raised at the Board’s Annual Christmas Party, held on December 10 at the Kingswood Lodge. Over 100 people including members and their guests, and members of the business community attended the party. Prizes were donated by local businesses and a live/silent auction was held. All proceeds from the event went to the Community Kitchen. The Fredericton Real Estate Board has supported the Community Kitchen for a number of years through fundraisers and donations. This is the first year they’ve included a fundraiser at the annual Christmas party.
The Fredericton Community Kitchen was established in 1982 and currently serves three meals a day through out the week and two meals a day on weekends, for a total of nearly 139,942 meals per year.
