Saint John received its first glimpse of spring in mid-March as local REALTORS® delivered fresh daffodils around the city in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Nearly 30 REALTORS® participated in the annual Daffodil Delivery Days Campaign, distributing pre-sold bunches of daffodils in and around the Greater Saint John area throughout the day.
For over 50 years, the Daffodil Campaign has been a major annual fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. The daffodil brings hope and awareness to those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Money raised from the daffodil sales funds promising new research and provides programs and information to support those living with the disease.
The Saint John Real Estate Board has been participating in the event for nearly two decades, with more and more REALTORS® volunteering their time each year.
“I am very proud of the support and enthusiasm our members bring to this event,” said Saint John Real Estate Board Vice-President, Sheila Henry, who has served as the Board’s contact with the Canadian Cancer Society for the past several years.
This year, one of the Saint John Real Estate Board’s Directors, Stefan Cormier, took the reigns as the on-site delivery day coordinator, organizing thousands of deliveries.
“I have been part of this great event for the past three years, and I was honoured when Sheila asked me to step in and coordinate,” said Stefan. “I lost a best friend to cancer nearly a year ago, so I know first-hand how devastating the effects of this disease can be.”
With a strong army of volunteers dashing around the city to make the deliveries, the event wrapped up on time and was a huge success. “As REALTORS®, it is important to give back to the communities that support us. Cancer hits close to home for almost everyone, so we were grateful for the chance to raise awareness and much-needed funds for such a worthwhile cause,” said Stefan.
