Saint John Area REALTORS® brought some much-needed spring to the coldest day in March with the annual daffodil delivery days in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Over 25 Saint John Real Estate Board members delivered over 5,000 bunches of pre-sold daffodils across Southwest New Brunswick.
The Daffodil Days campaign is the Canadian Cancer Society’s largest annual fundraiser. Daffodil bunches are pre-sold throughout the month of March and all orders are delivered by volunteers on daffodil delivery day. All proceeds from the campaign go towards funding research and support programs for those fighting cancer.
The daffodil pin has long been the symbol of hope for those living with cancer and, in addition to the flowers, volunteers and Canadian Cancer Society supporters wear daffodil pins during the month of April. Event Coordinator Sheila Henry, Vice President of the Saint John Real Estate Board, was proud to wear a very special version of the pin.
“Knowing about my involvement with the campaign, a friend brought back this British version for me,” she said with a smile. “I am proud to wear this little symbol of hope, knowing it carries the same big meaning here in New Brunswick as it does halfway around the world.”
Despite cold temperatures and high winds that sent some REALTORS® chasing after delivery sheets through the streets of Uptown Saint John, volunteers were very enthusiastic and made the deliveries in record time.
“The Saint John Real Estate Board has been involved with the daffodil campaign for the past 18 years,” says Henry, adding, “this was one of our best years yet.”
