In June, REALTORS® from across Nova Scotia, friends and sponsors joined together for the Nova Scotia Association of REALTORS® (NSAR) annual golf tournament in support of the Arnold G. Jones Bursary Fund.
“We do a bunch of charitable activities as an organization every year, but this one we feel is the most important,” said NSAR President Matt Honsberger. “It’s exciting every year to be able to support young people as they go on to post-secondary education and this is just a great day…We get a ton of community support and support from the members themselves for this event.”
About 80 players took part in this year’s tournament and raised $10,000 in support of the education fund.
“It’s a lot of fun, but it will get competitive. There are some teams here that stack their teams every year. They try to come out and win,” Honsberger said with a laugh before the shotgun start at The Links at Penn Hills near Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. “But there are some teams here who just come out to enjoy a sunny day, have a few hotdogs and enjoy themselves.”
Every hole was sponsored by a NSAR member or industry stakeholder. Organizers encouraged participants to donate more through hole-in-one contests, putting contests and more fun activities throughout the course.
