Over 60 members of the Chatham-Kent Association of REALTORS® joined forces to take part in public clean-ups throughout their community on Monday, April 23, in support of Earth Day. Donning bright green shirts, the volunteers disposed of garbage from community parks and pulled mattresses and shopping carts from the riverbank. Although it was a cool and blustery day, the REALTORS® persevered—some agents were even seen running after pieces of paper caught by the wind.
“It’s just one small thing REALTORS® do as part of our community. When you enlist the help of a REALTOR®, you’re not just gaining support to buy or sell a house – your REALTOR® can guide you through every step of the process,” said Teri-Lynn Harlick, President of the Chatham-Kent Association of REALTORS®.
Earth Day was first launched in the United States in 1970 in order to promote environmental awareness. According to Earth Day Canada, more than 6 million Canadians join 1 billion people in over 170 countries in staging events and projects to address local environmental issues.
