KWAR REALTORS® Assist Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region

Members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® are once again giving back to their community with a donation of $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region (HFHWR).

Dietmar Sommerfeld, President of the KWAR, presented the check on behalf of REALTORS® to HFHWR Chair Dianne Stickney and Chief Operating Officer Karen Redman.

“REALTORS® understand the pride that comes with owning a home,” says Sommerfeld. “Supporting HFHWR in making the dream of homeownership a reality for hardworking families in our community is a natural fit.”

Speaking on behalf of HFHWR, Redman said: “The entire REALTOR® community has been tremendously supportive towards Habitat Waterloo Region for many years. With the leadership of the KWAR and the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation, the continuation of REALTOR® support will provide hard working, low income families in our community an opportunity for a hand up rather than a hand out.”

Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region is one of three local charities to be receiving funds through the 2012 round of the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation grants. The Foundation acts on behalf of Ontario REALTORS® in funding shelter-related charities across the province. The KWAR is proud to support the foundation, and this year donated a total of $15,000 for local charities through its “Every REALTOR® Campaign.”

Since 1993, the KWAR has donated in excess of half a million dollars to support local charities. REALTORS® believe that healthy communities depend on a strong economy, safe neighbourhoods, a clean environment, access to housing and the protection of rights of property owners. The KWAR recognizes the need to support and enhance the Quality of Life enjoyed by residents of Waterloo region.
