Marylyn Burns of Sutton Group-All Pro Realty Inc. in Lindsay, Ontario is the proud recipient of the prestigious June Callwood Award for Outstanding Volunteers, an annual award that honors hospice volunteers.
The award ceremony was held on Saturday, September 16 at the Hospice Association of Ontario (HAO) annual conference. All nominees for the esteemed award were invited to the HAO conference where they were recognized and honored for their commendable volunteerism and dedication to people in need.
Burns and all other nominees received a medal and certificate signed by renowned journalist and activist June Callwood. The award was named for June, volunteer, founder of Casey House Hospice, community activist, author and recipient of the Order of Canada.
Burns continuously excels as a volunteer and devotes her time to hospice patients, children’s groups and other organizations. “The need for volunteering is pressing,” said Burns. “I love volunteering, I enjoy helping people and it is my humble contribution to society for the space I use.”
“The world needs volunteers, people need generous and kind individuals who step up to the plate and help improve the well-being of humanity,” adds Burns.
