On Wednesday, April 22, 2009, the London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) held its Annual General Meeting and Tradeshow at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn in London, Ontario. LSTAR was proud to recognize its beneficiaries at the event and celebrated a milestone with Mission Services of London – reaching a donation level of more than $200,000 since 1992!
“This year marks a total donation sum of $210,956 to Mission Services,” says Joe Hough, LSTAR President. “The London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® is proud to give back to such a worthwhile organization as Mission Services.”
Deb Wiltshire, Mission Services President, and Gordon Russell, acting Executive Director, accepted LSTAR’s large novelty cheque on behalf of Mission Services. LSTAR raises funds for Mission Services through grants, the sale of its Homes for Hope pins and through its annual Funspiel. Mission Services opens doors of hope to those seeking emergency shelter and support, by offering safe shelter, food, and clothing and by facilitating rehabilitation as needed, in an atmosphere of compassion.
LSTAR also recognized another beneficiary, the Unity Project, with a cheque for $8,802, raised through an annual Christmas donation and through the REALTORS®’ Holiday Gala. The Unity Project provides emergency shelter and transitional housing accommodations in a safe, secular and home-like setting.
