On June 20, 2012, the Cornwall and District Real Estate Board held their annual golf tournament. Approximately 40 REALTORS® were on-site to work on their swing and help local kids while doing it. Thanks to the Board, its members, and Scotiabank, who matched funds raised by the Board, $10,000 was donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Cornwall and District.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a charitable organization dedicated to helping children growing up in primarily lone parent families to achieve their full potential through mentoring programs with caring responsible adult volunteers.
BBBS is a cause that is close to REALTOR® and committee member Janette Sullivan’s heart. She is a former Big Sister herself! “It is a great organization,” she affirms.
REALTORS® in Cornwall can be proud that their contribution will be making a big difference in the lives of local kids that need support.
“The impact of a donation of $10,000 is simple: we are going to be able to match even more kids in the counties with a mentor,” explains Amanda Brisson, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall. “There are currently 105 kids on a waiting list for services with our agency. This money will go a long way to getting them matched. We are so happy that we are the recipients of this donation.”
