On Wednesday, November 14, The North Bay Real Estate Board presented a donation cheque to Marty Martinello of the North Bay Food Bank for $1,000.00 and another donation cheque to Kim Smith of The Gathering Place also for $1,000.00.
The North Bay Food Bank is dedicated to helping end hunger through education, advocacy, fundraising, food drives and other activities – including educational events designed to raise awareness.
The Gathering Place is North Bay’s community soup kitchen and, since opening in September 2003, has served over 45 thousand meals. It is their goal to provide a well balanced diet to those in need. Volunteers and merchants within the North Bay community provide each meal free.
The money was raised at their annual golf tournament that takes place in June. Golf tournament chair, Scott Carr and the North Bay Real Estate Board of Directors were present for the presentation. They include 2007 President-Dave Wylie, President Elect-Steve Kotan, and Directors: Dave Rose, Irene Smit.
