Wayne Jewell, a REALTOR® with Sutton-Diamond Realty in Dorchester and member of the London-St. Thomas Association of REALTORS®, recently donated his $4,000 commission to food banks in Aylmer and Dorchester. He gave half of his commission on the sale of a home in Aylmer to the Corner Cupboard there, and the other half to the Dorchester Food Bank.
The timing of the sale of this home was right to be able to help provide for children heading back for school, but Wayne points out that people need help all year long.
Now in business in Dorchester, Wayne spent much of his childhood in Aylmer. He says that his childhood memories and being aware of the need for food bank services in Aylmer and Dorchester, determined him to split his $4,000 commission between the two food banks.
Jean Davis of Dorchester’s food bank said, “Mr. Jewell was a regular supporter” of that agency, “always seeming to come through with a donation when the need was greatest.”
Wayne hopes that other REALTORS® will follow his example and dedicate a sale commission to a worthy cause.
