For the second year in a row, the Northumberland Hills Association of REALTORS® were the top fundraisers at the annual Heart and Stroke Foundation Big Bike Ride on May 23.
The team of 29 REALTORS® managed to raise just shy of $4,800 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
“It was a very good day. A cousin of one of our members is involved with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and also has heart issues herself, so she brought the idea to our board and we all thought it was such a great cause. Heart and stroke affects almost everyone,” said Janette Laffin, executive officer of the Northumberland Hills Association of REALTORS®.
Members of the team raised money by sending out emails with a direct link to the fundraising page. It wasn’t long before the donations came piling in.
“We had a great response once again,” Laffin said. “By doing this ride it shows our association and its members support the community, especially since all of the riders on our team were REALTORS®.”
The ride itself was about 20 minutes as they pedaled around town in a red-and-white team uniform, cheering and waving to people along the route.
The Big Bike Ride isn’t the only fundraising initiative done by the Northumberland Hills Association of REALTORS® as they also host a summer golf tournament benefiting the local food bank.
