Congratulations to the members of the Kevin O’Brien Team who envisioned and organized Wine for Friends. This event on November 30, 2015, at Yolanda’s Spuntino Casa in Bronte raised awareness and funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This social mixer invited guests to donate a bottle of wine for raffle then mingle as they enjoyed appetizers and drinks and bought raffle tickets. Generous guests donated and took home a range of excellent wines with proceeds benefiting JDRF.
“We ensured that there was a wonderful atmosphere at the restaurant with candlelight, cocktails and music,” says Brooke O’Brien, a REALTOR® with Sutton Group – Quantum Realty Inc. “Everyone received a free glass of wine upon arrival and there were beautiful charcuterie boards with salami, cheese and fresh bread.”
Brooke notes that the organizing team grouped some donations into tempting collections. Raffle tickets were available for purchase throughout the night to win one of the prizes.
In addition to making new friends and perhaps trying new wines, guests also enjoyed a delicious bookend to the evening: perfectly decadent cupcakes by Lauren.
For more than 40 years, JDRF has been a leader in the quest for an end to Type 1 diabetes through both research funding and advocacy. This charitable organization has expanded its mandate from helping diabetic children lead full, healthy lives to now assisting people of all ages as researchers work towards a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
